Mvurya welcomes visitors to Kenya for CHAN: ‘Your safety is guranteed’

The Government of Kenya has vowed to deliver tight security for all the visitors, who will arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to grace the 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Nairobi.

After several years of uncertainty, the tournament is set to kick-off in East Africa with Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania hosting teams from across Africa.

Speaking after touring JKIA, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Sports Salim Mvurya assured that they are now actively monitoring incoming teams and guests, with well-coordinated transport systems in place to ensure smooth transfer to their respective destinations.

“Designated areas at JKIA have been prepared to handle these arrivals seamlessly. We are now actively monitoring incoming teams and guests, with well-coordinated transport systems in place to ensure smooth transfer to their respective destinations,” said Mvurya.

He added: “Kenya’s points of entry are well aligned and secured to receive international visitors and tourists during this period.”

Mvurya, who was accompanied by Ss: Aviation and Aerospace Development Teresia Mbaika; Sports, Elijah Mwangi; Youth Affairs & Creative Economy, Fikirini Jacobs, KAA Acting CEO Dr. Muhamud Gedi, LOC Chair Nicholas Musonye and senior officers from Government, further touched on accessing match venues.

“There will be no entry into the stadium without a valid digital ticket. No physical ticket will be sold at the two host venues,” he warned.

Mvurya thanked LOC led by Musonye for the dedication to deliver a successful tournament and called on Kenyans to turn out in large numbers and make CHAN a tournament to remember.
