Nasreddine Nabi has delivered an ultimatum to Kaizer Chiefs, revealing the crucial condition that must be met for him to remain at the helm of the Soweto giants next season.
The Tunisian coach gave Amakhosi a subtle warning amidst swirling rumours of his potential departure from the club when the 2024/25 season comes to an end.
Pan-Africa Football understands that Chiefs met with Nabi on Monday to discuss a way forward as the club’s management is not happy with the form of the team in the Betway Premiership.
This is despite Nabi leading Chiefs to their first trophy in nearly a decade after a 2-1 Nedbank Cup final victory against Orlando Pirates in Durban on Saturday.
In the league, Amakhosi have been struggling. They sit ninth after 26 games with 30 points (eight wins, 12 losses, and six draws). A top-eight finish is a top priority for Chiefs
Nabi is still under contract for another year at the Soweto giants, with an option for a further season.
However, Nabi, who wants to stay with the club beyond this season, stated frankly that his continuation would be unlikely if Chiefs don't provide the resources he needs to succeed.
On Monday during an interview on Extra Time show on SuperSport TV Nabi said: “I wouldn’t be honest if say that I’m going to stay if the club doesn’t allow me to get all the tools to succeed next season.
“They [Chiefs management] have promised me [quality players] , and I have promised the fans that I want to build a successful team that will compete in every competition to win trophies.
“That’s the condition for me to stay [at Chiefs] because I don’t feel that I want to go through what I went through this season.”
