Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has called on the club’s faithful to have patience and stop panicking as he strives to turn around the club’s misfortunes.
Amakhosi made a disappointing return to the Betway Premiership action following the FIFA international break, going down 2-1 to Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Skipper, Yusuf Maart, who had earlier missed from the penalty spot, equalised four minutes after Nduduzo Sibaya had given Abafana Bes’thende a 25th minute lead, as the teams went into half-time break level at 1-1.
Knox Mutizwa settled the matter with the winning goal twelve minutes from full-time. After the game, Chiefs players were booed off by their fans as they suffered their 10th defeat in the top-flight. However, according to the Tunisian coach, Chiefs still don’t have any solution to their performances and that the fans should, instead, rally behind the team.
“I think the conclusion is we need to score – if you want to win, you need to score. If you control the game – we looked at the statistics after the game, it was all for Kaizer Chiefs,” said Nabi as quoted by SABC Sports.
“And it was not the first game [where that's the case], majority of the games are like that. I think the solution is 100 percent clear, maybe the time for us [to change] some things is not now.”
He added: “But my message [to the fans] is patience. We don't have any solution now, but stay patient and continue to support the team, but I trust the fans of Kaizer Chiefs, they love the team too much.
“I want patience, give me patience. I'm very sorry, honestly, I'm very sorry for the result. I am the first man with big frustration. We understand altogether the frustration for the team in this moment, but please don't panic. We'll continue to work seriously, give 200 percent for the club.
“But don't panic please, and don't attack the players – I offer to attack me now, it's normal, but don't attack the players. Protect the team and the players because the season is not finished, and I'm sure we will change the situation.”
The disappointing result left Amakhosi in eighth place in the league standings, still on 29 points from now 23 matches and they will next face TS Galaxy on April 5, in Polokwane.
