Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has passionately urged the club's supporters to turn out in big numbers for their crucial final home match, where they aim to secure a coveted top-eight finish.
Despite a challenging run of eight league games without a victory, the Nedbank Cup champions still have the opportunity to qualify for next season's MTN8 competition by finishing the season in the top eight.
Currently sitting in ninth place with 31 points, a win against Polokwane City FC at FNB Stadium in Soweto would guarantee they leapfrog Chippa United (also on 31 points) and potentially Rise & Shine (on 33 points).
Having finished a disappointing tenth last season, avoiding a second consecutive campaign outside the top eight is a key objective for the Soweto giants.
Ahead of the must-win encounter against Rise and Shine on Saturday, Nabi has made a heartfelt appeal to the Amakhosi faithful to fill the stadium and provide invaluable support to his players.
“If you look at the table, you will see that the situation is only going to be resolved in the last game of the season,” said Nabi. “But we’re going to do everything, we are confident. We are playing at home for the last game, and we are going to have our supporters. Everyone knows how important the game is, and for us to finish in the top eight.
“I want to ask all the fans to come to the FNB Stadium for the next game. We need their support because the game is very, very tough. We need the three points.
“We need our fans to come in numbers, and together we will do it.”
