Namibia referees’ body apologises to FA over perks saga

The Namibian Referees Committee has apologised to the country’s football association over the stand-off to do with outstanding perks for referees.

The committee is reported to have created an impression that Namibia Football Association (NFA) had not paid the referees.

However, in a statement, the committee made a U-turn, saying NFA had in fact settled all the dues.

Why refs committee apologised to the FA

The committee attributed the delays which some referees experienced to receive their perks to administrative issues.

“The National Referees Committee hereby extends its sincere apology to the Namibia Football Association (NFA) and the Namibia public for the

recent circulation of misleading information suggesting that referees have not been paid their dues,” reads part of the statement.

“We wish to clarify that the NFA has already settled the payments due to referees. The delay experienced in some regions is administrative in nature, as certain regional structures are still finalising their accountability and verification reports before issuing match fees to their respective referees.

“This process is necessary to ensure transparency, accuracy and proper financial management.”

“We regret any confusion, concern, or reputational harm that the circulated reports may have caused to NFA, stakeholders, match officials, and the football community at large.”
