The Solid Miners who welcomed the reign NPFL champions to Remo Stars to the Lafia Township Stadium on Thursday for a rescheduled match day encounter emerged 2-1 victors.
Remo Stars took the lead through Micheal I’ve just five minutes into play but goals from John Joshua and Jofrank Istifanus made sure the host take all three points.
Reacting after the closely contested encounter Mbwas was relieved but aside heart balls back to winning ways as he hopes the momentum is carried into their next league game against Kwara United.
“It’s been a very difficult period for us, especially the last three weeks, but we are glad to return to winning ways again. We lost two straight matches on the road, which was difficult to swallow.
“We believe that we will improve more in our next game against Kwara United, this weekend, even though we know that the league is getting tougher. We want to remain in contention in the league this season, which is why we are not taking any game lightly.
“We will continue to give our best to get the desired results.”
Also reacting after his sides victory, winning goal scorer ISTIFANUS, who opened his account for Nasarawa United said the team has been pushing to get a positive result in the game.
“It feels really wonderful to score my first goal in Nasarawa United’s colours and in the league because this is my debut season in the elite league.
“I have been fighting for this chance, thank God I got it today, through the help of my teammates and coaches.
“The push from the first-half onto the second half was superb, which made me put in extra effort, and I got it..”
Nasarawa United who are top of the table with 22 points, one point above second place Abia Warriors, will also welcome eight placed Kwara United to the Lafia Township Stadium on Sunday to build on thier momentum.
