Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has admitted that his side did not deserve to get anything from the 4-1 thrashing against SuperSport United in their Betway Premiership fixture at FNB Stadium on Tuesday.

Amakhosi were undone by their former players, Samir Nurkovic and Christian Saile, who scored the first and second goals for SuperSport, respectively. Gamphani Lungu and Siphesihle Ndlovu added the third and fourth goals, while Glodly Lilepo scored the only goal for Amakhosi, who had Gaston Sirino sent off in the second half.

The outcome of the fixture saw SuperSport complete a double over Chiefs and speaking afterwards, the Tunisian coach said he had no excuses to give because it was a very difficult game from the start.

“It was a very difficult game from the first minute, and we could already see it was an off-game for us. I cannot give excuses all the time, but we didn’t have enough time to recover, two days. The other team had a week,” Nabi said as quoted by FARPost.

“It’s a deserved defeat for us, but you can see that mentally, we were not up to standard. We cracked. And unfortunately, you can see that… the result was painful.”

On why he subbed Pule Mmodi midway through the first half, Nabi explained: “It was not necessarily a tactical change. I noticed most of the players were not in the game. If I had a chance to substitute six or seven players, I could have done it.

“I could see Mmodi had given a lot into the game in the previous game. Today, already in the early minutes I could see he was not in the game, he was tired…”

The defeat, the seventh of the campaign, left Amakhosi sixth on the league table with 25 points from 18 matches, while SuperSport moved to 12th on 20 points from the same number of matches.
