Nigeria winger Nathan Tella has extended his stay with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.
The new agreement represents a strong show of faith from the Bundesliga champions, extending Tella’s previous deal—originally due to expire in 2028—by a further three years.

The new contract will see Tella remain at the Bay Arena until the summer of 2031. The 26-year-old’s previous contract was due to expire in 2028.
A statement from the club confirmed: “Bayer 04 Leverkusen have extended the contract with forward Nathan Tella ahead of schedule.
“The versatile 26-year-old, who can be deployed as a right winger, false nine or left winger, has penned a new contract to 30 June 2031.
Bayer 04 Managing Director Sport Simon Rolfes said the club was delighted to keep the Nigerian,who he labelled as a top-class professional in the team’s set up.
“We are delighted we will be keeping a likeable and top-class professional in our ranks over the long term,” Rolfes told Bayer O4 website.
“Nathan Tella is a top performer on the pitch and an enormously important player in the dressing room. His identification with Bayer 04 is evident and visible every day. In sporting terms, his pace and footballing ability are the outstanding qualities Nathan brings to our team.”
The England-born Nigeria international sees his long-term commitment to Leverkusen as “an expression of a special relationship.

“I really feel at home at Bayer 04, the first few years have seen a lot of fantastic successes,” said Tella. “It’s great fun to now be part of the development of a new and powerful team. I’m sure we will achieve our goals again in the coming years.”
“Tella joined the Werkself from Championship club Southampton in 2023. His previous contract ran to the summer of 2028.”
He made his first appearance for the club on September 2, 2023 in a 5-1 victory against Darmstadt 98, replacing Jeremie Frimpong in the 72nd minute. On October 5, 2023, Tella scored his first goal for Leverkusen in a 2-1 victory against Molde in the Europa League.
