Ndiraya outlines knowledge ex-Chiefs’ Musona brings to Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s Scottland FC’s coach Tonderai Ndiraya has outlined Knowledge Musona’s responsibility with the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) team.

The former Kaizer Chiefs star returned home this week to sign for the PSL team. He is set to make his Zimbabwe professional football debut for the first time in his playing career.

The Warriors’ star was a free agent after leaving Saudi Arabia Pro League outfit Al-Okhdood.

The ex-Chiefs forward’s move to Scottland adds to the growing list of stars on the books of the Castle PSL rookies. However, Ndiraya is unfazed with the task of managing the big-name players even though he expects all of them to yearn for a starting XI spot.

“In terms of handling them, we have done very well,” the coach said. “Of course, when you have stars, they all want to play. It is just a matter of man-management that has taken us this far.”

What Musona brings to Zimbabwe PSL

The Scottland mentor then outlined what he expects Musona to bring to the team.

“I am sure Knowledge is bringing some leadership into the team. The whole nation must be excited to watch Knowledge in our Premier League because when he started, he went straight to South Africa from our First Division to play for Kaizer Chiefs,” Ndiraya explained.

“The fact that he decided to come back to play in the league is a huge plus for our league. He is probably the most decorated player for the Warriors. In terms of leadership, you don’t have much work. Knowledge will be there to guide all the youngsters.”

Musona became the latest big-name player to sign for a Zimbabwean side, reuniting with younger brother Walter, Khama Billiat, Terrence Dzvukamanja, Khuda Myaba and Ronald Pfumbidzai.

The man, who recently came out of international football retirement, has never played professional football in his homeland as he signed for Chiefs from Aces Youth SA in 2009.

The 35-year-old turned into a big hit for Amakhosi, playing for them for two trophy-laden seasons that paved the way to TSG Hoffenheim in Germany’s Bundesliga in 2011.

Two seasons later, this was followed by a second spell with the Betway Premiership before he returned to Europe.

The forward, also called the Smiling Assassin, played Belgium for clubs such as RSC Anderlecht until 2023 when the petrol-dollar of Saudi Arabian proved irresistible starting off at Al-Tai FC.
