NEC FC head coach Hussein Mbalangu has found himself in hot water with local football authorities following controversial remarks made after his side’s clash with Kitara FC earlier this month at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA), acting through its Disciplinary Panel, has handed Mbalangu a two-match suspended sanction in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

Additionally, he has been ordered to pay an immediate fine of UGX 1,000,000. In a formal statement, FUFA cited a breach of Article 13 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, noting that the decision stemmed from comments made by Mbalangu during a post-match media interview on April 10, following the NEC vs Kitara encounter.

“The FUFA Disciplinary Panel has handed NEC FC Head Coach, Mr. Hussein Mbalangu, a two-match suspended sanction in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League for breaching Article 13 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code. The sanction will be imposed if Mr. Mbalangu repeats the same conduct. He has also been fined UGX 1,000,000 payable with immediate effect,” reads part of the FUFA statement.

The ruling comes as a stern warning to the title-chasing tactician, with FUFA making it clear that any repeat of such conduct will trigger the suspension without further deliberation. As NEC FC continues its hunt for league glory, all eyes will be on Mbalangu not just for results on the pitch, but also for how he handles himself off it.
