NEC FC honour 2024/25 season’s outstanding performers at Bugolobi dinner gala

NEC FC celebrated their top performers from the 2024/25 campaign with a glamorous awards dinner held at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi on Monday night.
Defender Jacob Okao, who joined the club at the beginning of the season from Maroons FC, took home the night’s biggest accolade after being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP). Okao played a central role in NEC’s campaign under head coach Hussein Mbalangu.
Goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo, currently away with the Uganda Cranes ahead of international friendlies against Cameroon and The Gambia, was a double winner. He bagged both the Goalkeeper of the Season and the Fans’ Player of the Season awards, a testament to his consistency and popularity among the supporters.
Another Cranes international, Enock Ssebaggala, also scooped two awards on the night. He was named Best Midfielder and Players’ Player of the Season, underlining his immense influence in NEC’s midfield throughout the season.
Veteran attacker Paul Mucureezi was crowned Best Forward, having contributed crucial goals and experience to the frontline.
The Goal of the Season award went to Gaddafi Wahab for his stunning strike against Kitara FC during the first round, while Atendele Geriga earned recognition as Best Defender following a solid campaign at the heart of NEC’s backline.
