Uganda Premier League outfit NEC FC is on the verge of completing the signing of experienced midfielder Hassan Ssenyonjo, formerly captain of Wakiso Giants.

Reports indicate that Ssenyonjo has already agreed to personal terms with the Lugogo-based club, and his official unveiling is the only step remaining to finalize the deal. He has been a free agent since leaving Wakiso Giants at the close of last season, after a loyal five-year stint at the club.

The 26-year-old midfielder is expected to fill the gap left by Ibrahim Tembo, who recently parted ways with NEC FC. Tembo is one of several players the club is set to release as part of a broader squad reshuffle.

NEC FC, under the stewardship of head coach Hussein Mbalangu, is preparing for a demanding 2024/25 campaign that includes participation in the CAF Confederation Cup. As such, the club has been proactive in the transfer market.

Among the new faces expected to join the squad are defender Warren Buule, forward Hudson Mbalire, and exciting winger Richard Basangwa. Like Ssenyonjo, their official announcements are anticipated soon.

Meanwhile, a number of players are expected to exit the club after running down their contracts. The list includes Enock Ssebagala, Allan Mugalu, Rashid Okocha, and the departing Tembo.

With strategic reinforcements underway, NEC FC looks determined to build a competitive squad capable of making a mark both domestically and on the continental stage.
