NEC FC have strengthened their creative department with the capture of attacking midfielder Pius Obuya, who has penned a three-year contract ahead of the second half of the season.
The move marks Obuyaโs return to the Uganda Premier League after a five-year spell in Serbia, where he featured in the second tier for Kabel Novi Sad and later FK Radniฤki Sremska Mitrovica.

The former Uganda Cubs and Hippos playmaker had been without a club since mutually parting ways with Radniฤki at the start of the current campaign.
Obuya, who last turned out in the domestic top flight with Maroons FC in 2021, arrives as a direct replacement for Titus Ssematimba following the latterโs switch to Nairobi United in the Kenya Premier League.
His signing adds to NEC FCโs busy mid-season transfer activity, with the club already recruiting Richard Basangwa, Hakim Wandera and Muhammad Ssenoga Kagawa from Express FC. Goalkeeper Juma Mutebi has also joined from Lugazi FC, while Tony Atukunda made the move from SC Villa.
Under head coach Kaddu Badru, NEC FC will be targeting a stronger second-round showing after ending the first half of the season seventh on the table with 20 points.
