PSL confirms Nedbank Cup Last 32 venues and kick-off times

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has officially cleared the path for the 2025/26 Nedbank Cup, confirming the dates, venues, and kick-off times for the highly anticipated Round of 32.

The ‘Ke Yona’ Cup, South Africa’s premier knockout competition, returns with a blockbuster opening night on Wednesday, 4 February. Defending champions Kaizer Chiefs will initiate their title defence with a trip to the Mother City, while fellow giants Mamelodi Sundowns also feature in the opening-day double-header.

The tournament begins with a massive clash at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town. Stellenbosch FC will host the Soweto giants, in a fixture that has fast become a modern cup classic. While Chiefs defeated Stellies 3-1 in last season’s quarter-finals, the Cape Winelands side—now under the guidance of veteran coach Gavin Hunt—will be eager to utilise home-ground advantage to dethrone the holders.

Simultaneously, Mamelodi Sundowns will look to assert their dominance at Loftus Versfeld Stadium as they welcome lower-tier hopefuls Gomora United. Both opening matches are scheduled for a 19:30 kick-off.

‘No One-Hit Wonders’: Petersen On Chiefs’ 2025 Nedbank Cup Success

Speaking at the launch, Kaizer Chiefs captain Brandon Petersen made it clear that the Glamour Boys are no longer playing for pride alone—they are playing for keeps.

“Going into the cup last season was for us to try to end the drought, and now that we’ve ended it, our mindset is to defend it,” Petersen stated. “For us, it’s important to show we’re not a one-hit wonder.”

The Amakhosi shot-stopper noted that the trip to Cape Town always provides an electric atmosphere, but emphasised that the squad is focused on returning to the podium they occupied after last year’s 2-1 final victory over Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Last season’s runners-up, Orlando Pirates, face a tricky trip to Limpopo on Saturday, 7 February. They will take on Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Despite TTM’s current standing, their history as former champions makes them a dangerous “giant-killer” prospect for Jose Riveiro’s men.

With a ticket to the CAF Confederation Cup on the line for the eventual winner, the road to the final in May officially starts now.
