Zimbabwe national team coach Michael Nees has pinpointed areas where definitely change to compete strongly, following the Warriors' 0-2 loss to Burkina Faso in a friendly on Friday.  The German said this in a post-match interview following Friday's match.

The coach described the result as a fair reflection of the match, citing his new look side's performance as encouraging although they lost.

“[We were up against]a good and strong opponent from West Africa, physically. Our team has never played like that before,” he said. “We wanted to give four players their first caps, and there were also players I had never seen before. Performance-wise in the second half, I am really satisfied. With the result, of course, as a coach you don’t want to lose.”

Going forward, Nees said the Warriors need to focus on more concentration during matches, especially at the beginning.

“What we have to definitely change is the concentration and attitude at the beginning of matches. This is something that hurts us all the time. We had some passing mistakes, ball-control mistakes, decision-making mistakes…that one we have to correct for sure,” he explained.

The Warriors were without most star players, such as Marshall Munetsi, Knowledge Musona, Divine Lunga, Marvelous Nakamba, and Jordan Zemura from the squad due to various reasons.

The Warriors wrap up their stay in North Africa with a meeting against Niger at the same Stade de El Bachir in Mohamedia on June 10 to prepare for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
