NFF President Ibrahim Gusau named new WAFU B President

Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau (MON), the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, officially began his tenure as the new President of the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B), on Monday May 20, 2025.


Alhaji Gusau’s was previously the First Vice President of WAFU B since 30 September 2022. He was appointed the new WAFU B president after the resignation of Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, the President of the Ghana Football Association, who left the number one seat vacant following his election into the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African (CAF) Football two months ago.


WAFU B headquarters in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire reported that Gusau had the backing of the members of the zone. “Enjoys strong support among the zone’s members to bring continuity and dynamism to WAFU Zone B.”


His appointment comes less after the Nigeria U20 boys, Flying Eagles, won the bronze medals at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations finals in Egypt, with a ticket to the FIFA U20 World Cup finals to boot.


Gusau has been a very strong supporter of Football development on growth in to West African region making himself present in the zone activity and also still deeply involved in the growth of football in in Nigeria.


The WAFU B Zone is made up of seven countries, Nigeria, Togo, Benin Republic, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic and Cote d’Ivoire.
