Ngcobo hails Chiefs’ positive energy, hunger for more silverware

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is “raring to go” as the Amakhosi prepare to open the 2025/26 PSL season against Stellenbosch FC on Sunday.

The talented playmaker shared his confidence with the club’s website, stating that the team’s energy is high after a productive pre-season, which included a training camp in the Netherlands. Ngcobo said the camp “really helped” the team fix some issues and that they are now focused on starting the season with a positive mentality and a rhythm they can maintain.

The midfielder, nicknamed “Mshini,” also revealed that the team’s Nedbank Cup victory last season has sparked a greater desire for success. The win, which ended the club’s decade-long trophy drought, has motivated the players to “build on what we achieved last season and do our best in every competition.”

Looking ahead to the season opener at the Athlone Stadium, Ngcobo acknowledged that Stellenbosch is a “tricky opponent,” but believes the team has a solid plan to secure a win. He also dismissed the idea that Stellenbosch will have an advantage after already playing an MTN8 fixture, stating that Chiefs are “ready to start the league, and compete.”

Ngcobo concluded by praising the new signings, who he says have brought “a lot of quality” to a well-balanced squad. The new arrivals have been made to feel at home at Chiefs, and the team is eager to “work together to win matches.” He finished with a message to the Amakhosi faithful, urging them to “come to the stadiums every match-day to support us.”

The match kicks off at 17:30 on Sunday, August 10.
