Ugandan defender Derrick Ngobi has taken the next step in his professional journey after completing a move to Rwandan top-flight side Gasogi United FC.
The experienced and versatile defender joins the Kigali-based club as a free agent following his departure from Express FC at the start of the ongoing StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.
Ngobi has signed a one-year contract, committing his future to the Rwandan outfit for the remainder of the campaign.
Comfortable both in central defence and at right back, Ngobi brings much-needed flexibility and experience to the Gasogi United backline as the club looks to improve its standing in the Rwanda Premier League.
The former Express FC defender boasts a rich footballing CV, having previously featured for Kikyusa FC, Luweero United, Soltilo Bright Stars, Kenya’s Sofapaka, and Express FC in two separate stints.
He has also represented Bulemeezi in the prestigious Masaza Cup tournament.
Ngobi has already wasted no time settling in, making his first appearance for Gasogi United in a friendly match against Marine FC that ended in a 2-2 draw.
Gasogi United, who also count former SC Villa and Gaddafi FC striker Faizo Kazibwe among their ranks, are currently placed 10th on the Rwanda Premier League table with 22 points from 17 matches.
