Ottawa Rapids forward Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has expressed her delight at returning to the Nigerian Super Falcons after a significant period away from the national team.
On Thursday, Okobi was named in Justine Madugu’s 25-woman squad for the upcoming friendly double-header against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.
The 32-year-old, who currently plays in Canada’s Northern Super League, was a regular fixture for the Super Falcons during the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). However, she was notably omitted from the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad by former head coach Randy Waldrum.
Following the announcement, the forward took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate her international recall, posting:
“God be praised. Thank you @thenff.”
Okobi has earned 27 caps for the Super Falcons and has scored four goals to date.
