Bayern Munich honorary president Uli Hoeneß has made it clear that Nicolas Jackson will not be joining the club on a permanent basis.
The Senegalese striker, formerly of Chelsea, arrived at Bayern last summer on loan with an obligation to buy under specific conditions. Speaking to Sport1, Hoeneß explained:
“We are the real winners of the summer transfer window and we are satisfied. Our team is strong, even if it hasn’t always shown its full strength.”
He revealed that Bayern secured Nicolas Jackson’s services for €13.5 million rather than €16.5 million, as the player personally gave up €3 million to complete the move. However, Hoeneß stressed that the purchase clause will never be triggered:
“The obligation requires him to start 40 matches, and that will never happen.”
Hoeneß also touched on Bayern’s failed attempt to sign striker Nick Woltemade.
“We offered €55 million, but Stuttgart demanded €75 million. In the end, he went to Newcastle for €90 million — and he is not worth that amount. What Newcastle are doing is like a game of Monopoly, it has nothing to do with football.”
