Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have unveiled their squad for the upcoming WAFU B U-20 Boys Cup, which kicks off this Thursday in Accra, Ghana. The team features several players from the recent U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, including captain Daniel Bameyi.
Other notable players from the U-20 AFCON making the trip are goalkeeper Ebenezer Harcourt, defender Odinaka Okoro, and midfielders Divine Oliseh, Bidemi Amole, Tahir Maigana and Matthew Kingsley. Nigeria secured a third-place finish at the U-20 AFCON.
Nigeria, who are the defending champions of the last two WAFU B U-20 Championships (held in Niger Republic and Togo respectively), are set to face hosts Ghana in the opening match of Group A. The game is scheduled for Thursday at 3 PM at the Prampram Centre in Accra.
The Flying Eagles are set to face the Benin Republic on Sunday, July 13th, as part of a three-team Group A.
Meanwhile, Group B comprises Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Togo, with the Ivorians and Burkinabes kicking off the group’s matches on Thursday. The Flying Eagles will be looking to leverage this tournament as crucial preparation for the U20 World Cup in Chile, scheduled for September.
