Nigeria’s men senior’s national team, the Super Eagles have assured that they will go all out for a victory in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against the Amavubi of Rwanda.
The Super Eagles have endured a poor start to their2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, struggling to beat minnows like Lesotho, and Zimbabwe, a string of disappointing results that have left them in a precarious position in Group C with seven points from six games.
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi while speaking to reporters in the team’s Uyo camp declared that anything short of a win will derail their chances of securing a place at the 2026 World Cup finals.
“If we let it slip, it’s finished. If we let the Rwanda game slip, there’s nothing like rivalry in South Africa.”
Also Fulham player Alex Iwobi addressing Nigerians via the three-time African champions social media expressed the squad’s readiness and focus as he assured the fans that a win will come from the match.
“We know the task ahead of us. We’ve talked about it, and we are all on the same page.
The past results are behind us now. We have to be confident in ourselves and go out there to do what we do best. The fans deserve a win, and we are going to fight for it.”
In a similar vein, defender Bright Osayi-Samuel acknowledged the importance of the game for the qualification and emphasized the team’s unity and fighting spirit.
“The atmosphere in camp is great. Everyone is hungry and ready to give their all. We understand the importance of this game, and we are not taking anything for granted. We will fight for every ball and for our country.”
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina, echoed the sentiments, focusing on the need for a strong performance.
“We have to be clinical in front of goal and solid at the back. It’s a home game.”
