Nigerian coach Eric Chelle hails Super Falcons on 10th WAFCON title

Nigeria Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has extended his congratulations to the Super Falcons, following their historic performance at the 2024Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

In a statement to the Super Eagles media, Chelle lauded the team’s resilience and their coach’s leadership, emphasizing that their victory was thoroughly deserved. The Super Falcons secured a record-extending 10th title at the competition, coming from two goals down to defeat the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco 3–2 in the final.

Coach Chelle specifically praised his counterpart, Justine Madugu, for a brilliant campaign.

“I want to congratulate the coach, it was a great tournament, I’m so proud of you and your technical staff. You deserve this trophy. I’m so happy for you and your family.”

Madugu’s side recorded the highest number of goals(14) and conceded the fewest (three) at the WAFCON2024 finals.

The quartet of Chiamaka Nnadozie, Michelle Alozie, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Esther Okoronkwo were named in the Team of the Tournament, while Madugu was named Coach of the Tournament.
