Nigerian striker John Ebuka makes surprise move to an Egyptian club

In a surprising and powerful move in the Egyptian transfer market, Al Ittihad of Alexandria have announced the signing of Nigerian striker John Ebuka on a two-year contract.

Ebuka joins from fellow Egyptian side Al Masry, adding significant firepower to the squad ahead of the new season. The 28-year-old forward is no stranger to Egyptian football, having previously played for ENPPI, Ceramica Cleopatra, and Al Masry.

During his time at ENPPI, Ebuka featured in 68 matches, scoring 25 goals and providing 6 assists. At Ceramica Cleopatra, he played 53 matches, netting 11 goals and assisting 3 times. His most recent spell at Al Masry saw him make 14 appearances and score 2 goals.

Ebuka also had a brief stint for six months abroad with Al Ahli Tripoli in Libya before returning to the Egyptian league.

One of the highlights of his career came in the 2024 Egyptian League Cup, where he lifted the trophy with Ceramica Cleopatra—his first major title in Egyptian football.
