Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi goal not enough as Viktoria Plzen exit Champions League

Nigerian striker, Rafiu Durosinmi netted the opening goal in a 2-1 home win over Rangers in a UEFA Champions League third round qualifier, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Czech side from being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

Durosinmi hit target in the 41st minute with a routine finish from inside the box. Despite the pressure from the home side, Rangers managed to score an equalizer through Lyall Cameron in the second half, restoring their commanding three-goal aggregate lead. While Plzen’s Svetozar Marković would go on to score a late winner on the night in the 83rd minute, it was purely a consolation.

The 2-1 result on the night meant Rangers ultimately advanced to the play-off round, where they will face Belgian side Club Brugge for a place in the group stage of Europe’s premier club competition.

Viktoria Plzen’s exit marks the end of their Champions League journey for the season, but Durosinmi’s impressive performance and goal provide a positive takeaway for the young striker.
