Nigeria forward, Paul Onuachu’s 75th minute goal was little too late as relegation battlers, Southampton suffered a 2-1 loss at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday evening.

Wolves were all smiles on the evening when Celta Vigo loanee Jorgen Strand Larsen’s brace built important points for the visitors’ relegation survival in the English Premier League. The Norwegian forward shot Wolves ahead with 19 minutes of action at the St Mary’s Stadium before adding another, two minutes into the second half of the game.

Paul Onuachu rose to the occasion for the Saints, finding the back of the net on the 75th minute but that was not enough to save them from the claws of yet another defeat. The 30-year-old has now increased his scoring tally to three goals from 19 league appearances this season.

The loss worsens the plight of Southampton who have raked in a paltry nine points from 29 games and certainly look destined for the drop to the English Championship after earning promotion last term.

Elsewhere in the French Ligue 1, Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon was on the assist sheet for Nantes who defeated Lille by 1-0 on Saturday evening.

The speedster teed off Egypt international Mostafa Mohamed in the 83rd minute for the solitary goal and the important three points that will keep Nantes in 14th on 27 points from 26 matches.
