The race for the Nile Egyptian League title continued with two key matches in the third round of the title phase featuring top contenders Pyramids and Al Ahly.

Haras El Hodoud 1–2 Pyramids

Pyramids secured a dramatic late win away from home against Haras El Hodoud, claiming a 2–1 victory just days after reaching the CAF Champions League final against South Africa's Orlando Pirates.

Defender Ali Gabr opened the scoring for Pyramids in the 43rd minute with a header. Haras El Hodoud equalized in the 76th minute through a spectacular bicycle kick by Abdelrahman Gouda, who chose not to celebrate against his parent club as he is on loan from Pyramids.

But the visitors had the final say. In the 87th minute, Congolese striker Fiston Mayele capitalized on a defensive mistake, stole the ball inside the penalty area and fired home the winner.

With this win, Pyramids maintained their spot at the top of the title group standings with 47 points, four ahead of second-placed Al Ahly.

Meanwhile, Haras El Hodoud remain bottom of the group in ninth place with 22 points, having lost all three of their matches in the title phase.

Petrojet 2–3 Al Ahly

In the first match under interim head coach Emad El Nahhas, Al Ahly claimed a 3–2 away win over Petrojet.

The Red Devils came into the game after a CAF Champions League semifinal exit against South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns.

Al Ahly started strong, scoring twice in the first 15 minutes. Wessam Abou Ali struck first in the 10th minute with a shot from inside the box after a pass from Emam Ashour. Amr El Solia doubled the lead in the 15th minute, converting another close-range effort after an assist from Taher Mohamed.

Petrojet mounted a comeback late in the first half. Rashad Metwally pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 45th minute. Then, in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time, Nigerian forward Lucky Emmanuel leveled the score with a tap-in from a Hamed Hamdan cross.

However, Al Ahly had the final word. In the 62nd minute, Slovenian striker Nejc Gradisar, who had just come on, scored with his first touch — a high finish after a cross from free-kick delivered by Mohamed Hany.

This victory keeps Al Ahly second in the standings with 43 points, four behind leaders Pyramids. Petrojet sit eighth with 25 points.
