Nile Egyptian League – ZED, ENPPI, and Ittihad win as relegation battle continues

The second stage of the Nile Egyptian League continued with four matches played in the relegation group round three.
The group consists of nine teams, with the bottom two (8th and 9th place) set to be relegated.
All teams have now played in the third round, except for Modern Sport, who had a bye this round.
Ismaily 0-2 ZED
ZED returned to winning ways with a 2-0 away victory over Ismaily.
Mostafa Saad “Messi” opened the scoring for ZED in the 58th minute with a shot from inside the penalty area that deflected off an Ismaily defender and found the net.
Shady Hussein added a brilliant second goal in the 61st minute, controlling the ball, adjusting his body, and firing into the near corner.
This was ZED’s first win in four matches, having drawn once and lost the previous three.
Standings: ZED are now top of the relegation group with 27 points. Ismaily sit in 8th place with 18 points.
ENPPI 1-0 Ghazl El Mahalla
ENPPI continued their strong run of form with a second consecutive win in all competitions, this time edging Ghazl El Mahalla 1-0 in the league.
Ahmed Amin “Oufa” scored the only goal of the game with a header in the 55th minute.
This marks ENPPI’s fifth win in their last six matches across all competitions.
Standings: Ghazl El Mahalla are 6th with 20 points, while ENPPI sit 7th with 18 points.
Tala’ea El Gaish 1-2 Al Ittihad of Alexandria
Al Ittihad of Alexandria ended their poor run with an away win, defeating Tala’ea El Gaish 2-1.
Islam Samir opened the scoring in stoppage time of the first half with a shot from inside the box.
Mahmoud Alaa doubled the lead in the 70th minute from the penalty spot.
Tala’ea El Gaish pulled one back through Godwin Okwara, who converted a penalty in the 85th minute.
This was Al Ittihad’s first win in seven matches, having suffered six defeats and one draw in all competitions during that stretch.
Standings: Al Ittihad now sit in 3rd place with 22 points, while Tala’ea El Gaish are 4th with 21 points.
El Gouna 1-1 Smouha
El Gouna got a point at home with a 1-1 draw against Smouha.
Ahmed Shousha gave El Gouna the lead in first-half stoppage time from the penalty spot.
Egyptian international defender Mohamed Rabia equalized for Smouha in the 72nd minute with a long-range effort that deflected off an El Gouna defender and went in.
The draw ends Smouha’s six-match losing streak.
Standings: El Gouna are second in the group with 24 points, while Smouha sit 5th with 21 points.
