Slovenian club NK Maribor have expressed their joy over the signing of Ghanaian striker Benjamin Tetteh on a permanent deal ahead of next season’s campaign.

The former Dreams FC forward signed a two-year deal to complete his move from French side FC Metz after a successful loan period last season.

Tetteh joined Maribor on an initial loan deal in January 2025 and ended the campaign with 11 goals in 19 league games – a performance that clearly left the club’s technical team spellbound.

A statement from the club read: "This time he will not be with us on loan, but as a full member. The mission was successful, after great efforts by the club's management, Benjamin Tetteh is returning to Ljudski vrt from Metz. He signed a two-year contract, the jersey with No. 30 has a new/old owner," wrote the club after completing the deal.

Head of Football Operations at NK Maribor, Cem Başgül, expressed delight with the capture of Tetteh while praising the qualities of the former Ghana national team forward.

“Benji is not only a great player, but also a person with a strong character. His return, which Acun Ilıcalı gave to the club and our fans, means a lot to everyone who is close to this club. Now is the time for everyone — players, experts, staff and fans — to come together, work harder than ever and together reach higher," he said.

The 27-year-old has played in Belgium for Standard Liege, with loan spells at Slovacko and Bohemians before moving to sign permanently with Sparta Prague in 2018 for three seasons.

His loan journey took him to Yeni Malatyaspor before signing a permanent deal with the club. He later played for Hull City and Metz before settling with NK Maribor after a loan spell last season. He has been capped seven times by the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars.
