Mustafa Abu Zahra, a member of the Egyptian Football Association board and head of the Pharaohs’ delegation in Spain, confirmed the VAR situation for the upcoming friendly match between Egypt and Spain.
The match will take place on Tuesday at 7:00 PM GMT at the Espanyol Stadium in Barcelona.
Speaking to ON Sport FM Radio, Abu Zahra revealed that Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology will not be used in the match, noting that “in Europe, friendly matches are typically played without VAR.”
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Hassan, director of the Egyptian national team, said through the media center: “It was agreed with the Spanish national team to make 11 substitutions during the friendly match between the two teams.”
In the last warm-up games before this encounter, Spain defeated Serbia 3-0, while the Pharaohs’ secured 4-0 win against Saudi Arabia.
Egypt has been drawn into Group G alongside Iran, Belgium, and New Zealand. Spain, on the other hand, will compete in Group H with Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, and Cape Verde.
