Manchester United’s performance in the English Premier League this season has been a far cry from the club’s once dominant status in global football.

The Red Devils’ disappointing run this term keeps them 16th on the league table with 39 points from 36 matches, with two games to end the season.

The horrendous performance by manager Ruben Amorim’s side has left club defender Noussair Mazraoui describing the campaign as one of his biggest tests.

The Moroccan right-back, who joined Man United from Bayern Munich for €15 million last August, revealed that adapting to life at a struggling team has been a challenge.

“Am I hurting? Of course, I am,” Mazraoui told reporters.

“I come from clubs where I’m not used to losing. I will never get used to losing wherever I am, as well as here.

“It’s a painful moment, but life is sometimes painful, and you just have to go through it.”

The Morocco international was a key figure at Dutch club Ajax and Bayern before moving to the Premier League with Manchester United on 13 August 2024, where he signed a four-year deal.

Mazraoui is hoping to finish his first season in England with silverware, despite the tough ride. They will square off with fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the finals of the Europa League on Wednesday, May 21, at the San Mames in Spain.
