The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) remains competitive and fiercely contested with no particular club yet to establish their dominance.

After this past weekend's slate of matches it was Rivers United who moved back into top spot with a 2-1 home victory over Kwara United. Kwara took the lead in the opening twenty minutes through Akani Akeem but the Port Harcourt club rallied in the second half thanks to the efforts of a couple of rising stars. Timothy Zachariah equalized in the 52nd minute and then set up Nigeria under-17 national team player David Benjamin for the winner seven minutes later.

Remo Stars, leaders heading into the weekend, managed a draw at Ikorodu City while third placed Rangers International were held to a scoreless draw at Katsina United. El Kanemi Warriors, Shooting Stars and Niger Tornadoes recorded victories by multiple goals while Sunshine Stars and Akwa United continued their struggles in the relegation zone.
