When 36-year-old former Nigeria national team striker Brown Ideye signed for Enyimba last week, it was difficult to expect an immediate impact but now the veteran hitman has scored in two of his first three appearances.

Ideye provided the winning goal in Enyimba's latest match, a 2-1 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) victory over Nasarawa United on Wednesday at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba.

The Peoples' Elephant secured their first victory in domestic league play since late October with the result, also collecting two goals in a league match for the first time since that October victory over Ikorodu City. Joseph Atule followed a two-goal performance against Black Bulls in Sunday's 4-1 CAF Confederation Cup victory by opening the scoring before halftime.

Soon before the hour mark, Nasarawa leveled through Anas Yusuf but a swift response came from Enyimba and Ideye. The former Dynamo Kiev and Olympiacos star, who came on as a substitute again, was positioned in the right place to apply a poacher's finish to a cross from the left flank for the match winner.

Enyimba, with still a couple of matches to make up on the rest of the field, move up to 7th place nine points back of leaders Remo Stars. They will return to action in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday with a crucial home match against Al Masry in Group D where they trail second placed Masry by one point.
