NPFL: Enyimba appoints Deji Ayeni as new head coach

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club Enyimba has announced the appointment of Deji Ayeni as its new head coach for the remainder of the 2025/2026 season.

Ayeni joins the nine-time NPFL champions from Nigeria National League (NNL) side Crown FC of Ogbomoso. He takes over from Stanley Eguma, who was sacked by the Aba giants last November.

The club shared the news on Sunday via its social media handles, welcoming the experienced tactician:

“Deji O’Clock

The Touchline Has A New Leader.

Welcome, Coach Deji Ayeni.”

The 53-year-old previously managed Sunshine Stars and Akwa United.

Lawrence Ukaegbu had been in temporary charge of the team since Eguma’s dismissal.

Ayeni is expected to be in the dugout today, Sunday, January 18, when Enyimba hosts Barau FC in a Matchday 21 encounter in Aba.
