Rivers United head coach Finidi George expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s display despite Sunday’s 1-0 victory in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The “Pride of Rivers” secured all three points at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium courtesy of a solitary goal, a result that extends their unbeaten start to the NPFL season.
However, the performance was a far cry from the standard the former Super Eagles winger expects from his squad.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Finidi said his players failed to take control of the game despite the victory.
“I am not quite happy, I have to be honest, We are too much in a hurry, too many mistakes. I didn’t see my team in one moment that I could say we are in total control.”
He assured that his team will improve on their performance in subsequent games.
The victory maintains Rivers United’s solid start to the season. The team now has eight points from four matches, with two wins and two draws. This record places them in a strong position on the league table, trailing only leaders Enyimba on goal difference.
