NPFL Lifts suspension on Adewale Adeyinka

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has lifted the provisional suspension on goalkeeperAdewale Adeyinka, allowing him to register with a news club for the ongoing 2025-26 season.

The NPFL made the announcement in a statement signed by its Chief Operating Officer, DavidsonOwumi, and addressed to the goalkeeper on Tuesday.

Adeyinka was initially suspended following allegations of his involvement in betting on NPFL matches during the 2024–25 season. The suspicion arose during his contract negotiations with a new club, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), when his former team, Plateau United, reportedly lodged a complaint with the league body.

The short stopper had publicly maintained his innocence, explaining on social media that he only sought clarification on a contract clause related to betting, insisting that any judgment should be based on concrete evidence, not rumors.

According to the NPFL’s statement, the decision to lift the ban was a result of Adeyinka’s full cooperation with the investigation.

However, the NPFL stressed that further investigations into the allegation would continue. With more players and individuals who have been mentioned in the inquest likely to be invited to appear before the panel.
