NPFL: Rivers United edge Niger Tornadoes

Rivers United secured a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in a hard-fought Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) rescheduled Matchday 6 encounter at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Wednesday.

The Pride of Rivers took the game to their visitors but both sides were unable to break the deadlock in the first 45 minutes.

The single goal that separated the two sides came early in the second half when Maclyn Biokpo converted his chance from the penalty spot in the 49th minute.

After the goal, coach Finidi George’s side made sure to hold on to their slim lead as they withstood the attacking treat of Niger Tornadoes to walk away with maximum points.

The victory means Rivers United are now third place in the NPFL table with eleven points, having a game at hand.
