Round 13 is complete in Nigeria's top division, the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), and a new club is at the top of the table after matches played on Saturday and Sunday. Rivers United moved into top spot on Sunday with a 1-0 victory at home over Abia Warriors to take advantage of a slip up from previous leaders Remo Stars.

A penalty kick conversion from Ndifreke Effiong in the second half gave Rivers the full three points in Port Harcourt and now the Pride of Rivers State are two points clear of Remo Stars, who fell 2-0 at Katsina United.

Elsewhere, El Kanemi Warriors defeated Akwa United 1-0 at home on Saturday and Bendel Insurance moved out of bottom spot with a 3-1 home result over Kwara United. Shooting Stars and Plateau United also earned victories over the weekend which also featured three draws.
