Warri Wolves have been fined ₦6 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the improper conduct of their fans during the Matchday 36 encounter against Plateau United on Sunday.

According to the NPFL, the club failed to provide adequate and effective security during the match, which enabled unauthorized individuals to access restricted areas of the stadium. Warri Wolves’ supporters were also charged with engaging in unsporting behavior capable of bringing the game into disrepute.

The fans showed gross misconduct toward match officials, which caused a 10-minute delay during the game.

Sanctions and directives

The club has also been directed to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrator(s) of the incidents and submit evidence of such actions to the NPFL.

As part of the punishment, Warri Wolves will play their remaining home matches this season behind closed doors. The club has 48 hours from the date of notice to appeal these sanctions.
