Matchday Nine saw the first half of the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership (NWFL) conclude on Wednesday as all games brought out their scoring boots across nation.
Action in both Groups A and B saw defending champions Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels, Nasarawa Amazons, and Remo Stars Ladies all secure victories, while FC Robo Queens suffered their second defeat of the season.
The day kicked off with a South-South derby in Port Harcourt at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, where Rivers Angels claimed a vital 2–1 win over Edo Queens. An Abasiofon Uwah brace in the first half canceled out Atume Doosuur’s equalizer to hand the hosts a crucial victory.

Defending champions Bayelsa Queens continued their title defense with a 2–0 victory over Ekiti Queens at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa. Bankole Sofiat opened the scoring in the 24th minute before Delight Isaac added a second shortly after the break.
In Makwada, Adamawa Queens edged Heartland Queens 2–1, with Omon Afensimi netting twice. Heartland’s lone goal came via an unfortunate own goal by Immaculate Paul.
Meanwhile, Naija Ratels secured their first win of the season at the Bwari Stadium, Abuja, following a narrow 1–0 victory over Pacesetter Queens courtesy of Omeje Chukwube’s 48th-minute strike.
At the Lafia City Stadium, Nasarawa Amazons produced a dominant attacking display to defeat FC Robo Queens 4–2. Sunday Ohunene opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, but Joy Iortyom equalized for Robo in the 14th.
Ayatsea Hembafan restored Nasarawa’s lead just two minutes later, and Jumoke Alani made it 3–1 before halftime. Bibiana Odoh added a fourth just after the restart (46’), while Rafiu Tosin pulled one back for the visitors in the 76th minute.
Remo Stars Ladies delivered a commanding 3-0 win against Dannaz Ladies at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in a South-West derby. Aishat Animashaun struck twice (14’, 75’) before Daniella Fagbenro sealed the result late on to cap a convincing performance.
In Aba, there was an outpouring of goals as Abia Angels overpowered debutants Ahudiyannem Queens 5–2 in a seven-goal thriller. Winner David bagged a first-half hat-trick, with Blessing Saleh and Obianuju Akwubo adding further goals for the hosts. Chiwendu Orji and Tobi Oghenerugba scored the consolation goals for the visitors.
Elsewhere, Osun Babes and Delta Queens played out a 1–1 draw in Ile-Ogbo. Favour Damaris gave Delta Queens an early lead in the 19th minute, but Tabitha Terlumun restored parity for the hosts before halftime.
The only goalless encounter of the round took place in Iyamho, where Confluence Queens held Sunshine Queens to a 0–0 stalemate.
With the conclusion of Matchday Nine and the push for the Super Six continuing, the top of both groups remains unchanged: Bayelsa Queens and FC Robo Queens continue to lead their respective tables.
In Group A, Rivers Angels remain second, while Edo Queens retain third place despite their first loss in six games. Heartland Queens sit in fourth as they chase a Super Six spot.
In Group B, Remo Stars Ladies and Nasarawa Amazons complete the top three, with Abia Angels pushing hard to overtake the frontrunners.
