NWFL: Matchday 5 raps up with FC Robo, Rivers Angles, Bayelsa Queens unbeaten

The 2025-26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) resumed after the holiday period on Wednesday as match day 5 games were played in both groups of the league with FC Robo Queens continue the on between run with five out of five victories in group B.

In Group A, Rivers Angels remained unbeaten by securing all three points away from home in Makwada, breezing past Adamawa Queens with a 3–0 scoreline. Abasiofon Uwa’s second-half hat-trick (56′, 63′, and 81′) led the league’s most decorated team to victory.

Elsewhere, another uneaten side Bayelsa Queens secured a 2–1 away win over Ibom Angels in Uyo. First-half goals from Kesiena Ojiyovwi and Janet Akekeromowei gave the visitors control before Helen David scored a consolation goal for Ibom Angels in the 59th minute.

​In Abeokuta, Ekiti Queens edged Naija Ratels FC 1–0, thanks to Ismail Zainab’s 73rd-minute strike. The only stalemate of the day occurred in Ibadan, where Pacesetter Queens and Heartland Queens played out a goalless draw.

Group B action kicked off in Lagos with FC Robo Queens bagging a 1–0 victory over newly promoted Ahudiyannem Queens, courtesy of an early strike from Opeyemi Ajakaiye.

Delta Queens maintained their strong home form, defeating Dannaz Ladies 2–0 with goals from Amarachukwu Onuorah and a late stoppage-time sealer from Rita Tsebe.

​In Ikenne, Nasarawa Amazons claimed a vital 1–0 away victory over Remo Stars Ladies, while Abia Angels impressed in Aba with a comfortable 2–0 win against Sunshine Queens.

Finally, Osun Babes edged bottom-of-the-table Confluence Queens 1–0, with Naimot Kazeem’s 62nd-minute finish the difference.

As Matchday 5 concludes, Bayelsa Queens top Group A, ahead of Rivers Angels on goal difference, while Pacesetter Queens sit at the bottom. In Group B, FC Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and Abia Angels occupy the top three spots, while Confluence Queens and Ahudiyannem Queens currently sit in the relegation zone.
