Harambee Stars midfield maestro Richard Odada was handed his first start in the Scottish Premiership as Dundee United secured a 2-1 victory away at St Johnstone FC on Thursday.
Dundee coach Jim Goodwin made two changes to the side that drew with Celtic just four days ago. Luca Stephenson and Miller Thomson both dropped to the bench whilst Emmanuel Adegboyega was reinstated and Odada was handed his first Premiership start.
The former Red Star Belgrade man joined Dundee during the off-season transfer window from MLS side Philadelphia Union after penning a two-year deal.
In a recent interview, Odada discussed his limited game time since joining Dundee by saying as quoted by The Courier: “I am here to play as much as possible- of course, I want to get as many minutes as possible and help the team get the best results. I have been patient but I am working hard in training every day.
“We have a lot of good players. The competition for places is very healthy and every day- every session counts. You need to be at your best in every session. I am giving my best and everything will fall into place.”
He added: “It is a little bit difficult because I have not played too much but I got some minutes while away with the national team. Hopefully, I can get more now.”
Odada was part of the Kenya squad that failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco after finishing third in Group J below winners Cameroon and second-placed Zimbabwe, who qualified for the 35th edition of the African tournament.
