Former Ghana international, Nii Odartey Lamptey has reacted to his departure as head coach of struggling Ghana Premier League club, Eleven Wonders.

The former Royal Anderlecht forward resigned after the club’s 3-2 loss to Nations FC in the week seven fixture of the season – a result which left them 17th in the table with only two points.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Lamptey explained that his decision to step down was personal and not influenced by club officials.

“A lot of people called me from Kumasi saying I’d been sacked. I wasn’t sacked. I submitted my resignation letter to the club’s leadership,” he said.

“I’ve already made my name. This job can’t add to or take anything away from the name I’ve made. I’m just helping them out,” Odartey Lamptey noted.

Eleven Wonders are expected to appoint a new head coach soon as they prepare to face Aduana FC at the Swedru Stadium on Monday in a week eight fixture.
