Al Ahly have officially announced the departure of long-serving captain and center-back Rami Rabia following the expiration of his contract.
Despite entering negotiations to extend his stay, both parties failed to reach an agreement due to differences over the financial terms proposed by the club and those requested by the player.
Following the conclusion of the Nile Egyptian League and Al Ahly’s title triumph yesterday, the club officially announced today the departure of Rami Rabia. As a result, the defender will not be part of Al Ahly’s squad for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Rabia, born in 1993, is one of the most decorated players in Al Ahly's illustrious history. A product of the club’s youth academy, he has been part of the senior team since 2010, with the exception of a brief one-year spell at Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.
During his time at Al Ahly, Rabia achieved many trophies on both the domestic and continental levels. His trophy-laden career includes:
CAF Champions League – 6 titles
CAF Super Cup – 4 titles
CAF Confederation Cup – 1 title
Egyptian Premier League – 10 titles
Egypt Cup – 4 titles
Egyptian Super Cup – 3 titles
FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup – 1 title
