Shabana FC coach Peter Okidi admits he was left frustrated after they secured a 1-1 draw against Tusker FC in their Kenyan Premier League fixture at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.
Despite taking a 19th minute lead courtesy of Austin Odhiambo, Tore Bobe allowed the Brewers into the game and they snatched a vital point in the 77th minute after substitute Ian Simiyu found the back of the net.
“It was a good game, first half we dominated Tusker, but in the second half we got into their game allowing them back, and put ourselves under pressure,” Okidi told Flashscore.
“It is a result we didn’t plan for, we had come here with a mindset of getting three points, we have set a target of winning every game, and the draw is a result we didn’t want, and we also can’t afford to lose points when we are leading.”
He added: “I think we will have to work on conceding, if you look at the goal we conceded, it came out of nothing. We have dropped points as a team, we need to go and rectify the mistakes, and next time we make sure if we score, we add more goals to prevent the opponent from coming back.”
He concluded: “Our target was to go into the FIFA international break with maximum nine points, but it is devastating now after the Tusker game.
“We wanted to finish with nine points, we had the nine points already after taking the lead, but let Tusker back into the game, so we want to use the upcoming break to work on a few things, and hopefully Michira will be back, because we want to recover the lost points in our next game.”
Despite the draw, Shabana remained top of the 18-team league table with seven points.
