Ola Aina vows to bounce back stronger after successful surgery

Nottingham Forest and the Nigerian senior men’s national team defender, Ola Aina has vowed to bounce back stronger from his injury setback, after successfully undergoing surgery on a severe hamstring injury.

The 28-year-old, who sustained the injury while on international duty and was forced off just 10 minutes into Super Eagles’ crucial World Cup qualifying match against South Africa last week.

Aina returned to Nottingham, tests confirmed the severity of the hamstring tear, and the decision was made for him to undergo surgery which he did procedure to on Tuesday.

Taking to his official Instagram account, the Nigerian defender shared a video from his hospital bed and provided an update for fans.

He expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of support and maintained a positive outlook, stating that his determined to return to the pitch as soon as possible.

Aina says surgery went well

“The journey begins. Surgery went really well and recovery is going smoothly. I am looking forward to getting stronger. A massive thank you to the club, my teammates, and all the fans for the incredible support. I will be working hard every day to get back out there as soon as possible and can’t wait to get back on the pitch at the City Ground.”

The defender is now facing a three-month recovery period that will sideline him for the remainder of the year.

Aina will hope to return to action in time before the start of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations which will be hosted by Morocco in December.
