Kenya national team Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga was among the goals as Al Arabi secured a 3-1 victory against Al Sadd in a Qatar Stars League fixture on Sunday.
The towering Harambee Stars captain found the back of the net in the 43rd minute after Al Arabi had gone down to a 39th minute goal courtesy of Akram Afif. Olunga took advantage of a delivery from the right wing before he rose highest to thunder in a powerful header.
The former Gor Mahia striker was involved in the second goal for Al Arabi. A move he started from the middle of play eventually saw Al Sadd defender Ahmed Suhail score into his own net for a 2-1 half-time break lead.
The second half saw Al Arabi remain a threat and they made it 3-1 in the 80th minute courtesy of Rodri.
The win saw Olunga’s Al Arabi jump to eighth with seven points from seven matches. They have managed two wins, one draw and suffered four defeats.
Olunga will hope to be involved when Al Arabi return to action in the Qatari Stars Cup with a home fixture against Lusail SC on Tuesday.
Olunga’s goal comes after he led Harambee Stars in the last two FIFA World Cup qualifiers. During the matches, Kenya defeated Burundi 1-0 before losing 3-0 against African champions Ivory Coast.
He has so far scored three goals for Al Arabi in the league.
