Egyptian international Omar Marmoush marked his first attacking contribution of the season for Manchester City, but it was not enough to prevent his side from slipping to a 2-1 defeat against Brighton in the Premier League.
The match, played at the American Express Stadium in round three of the campaign, saw Marmoush start for City before being substituted in the 72nd minute.
The forward was heavily involved in City’s opener. In the 34th minute, Oscar Bobb fed Marmoush on the edge of the box. The Egyptian skipped past Brighton’s defender, before nutmegging one opponent while laying the ball off to Erling Haaland, who fired home to make it 1-0.
It was Marmoush’s first goal contribution of the season, having featured in City’s opening two fixtures against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur without scoring or assisting.
However, Brighton came from behind to seal victory, handing City their second consecutive defeat. The result leaves Pep Guardiola’s side in 12th place with only three points from their first three matches.
