Egypt forward Omar Marmoush received praise from Manchester City head coach after he scored a brace in their 3-1 FA Cup victory against Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Saturday.
Marmoush delivered a standout performance after he got the starting role in a City side that showed 10 changes from Wednesday’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Nottingham Forest.

The Magpies opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Harvey Barnes, giving the visitors an early advantage. However, City responded before the break when Brazilian winger Savinho equalised in the 39th minute.
In the second half, Marmoush took control of the game. The Egyptian forward scored City’s second goal after a low cross inside the box passed across the Newcastle defense and reached him, allowing Marmoush to fire a shot into the net.
Marmoush struck again in the 66th minute to complete his brace. The goal came after a run from Matheus Nunes, who delivered a pass that Marmoush finished powerfully from outside the box.
Speaking after the game, Guardiola had warm words of praise for Marmoush.

“I had the feeling that he scored a lot of times against them,” said Gurdiola as quoted by Man City website.
“He’s a top striker and the finishing, especially our second goal and our third is his biggest quality. He has to improve in small spaces and his first control but he deserved it.”
He added: “It’s the best game we have played against Newcastle in my period here in ten years. Really pleased because the game against Nottingham Forest we were disappointed.”
Marmoush’s brace against Newcastle continued the Egyptian’s magnificent individual record against Newcastle taking his tally to seven goals in 13 months against the Magpies.
