Egypt international Omar Marmoush expressed his delight after he scored for Manchester City in their 2-0 Premier League win against Wolves at the Etihad in Saturday.
Having returned to the squad following his participation in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco where the Pharaohs journey ended in the third-place playoff after losing to Nigeria, Marmoush was handed a start for the first time since August.
Against Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League, he made a cameo off the bench. His goal against Wolves came after he finished off a cross from Matheus Nunes, before new Ghana signing Antoine Semenyo grabbed his third goal in four City appearances before the interval for a 2-0 lead.
“It is important to score a goal and help the team,” said Marmoush in an interview after the game. “I am very happy to be here after AFCON and help my team.
“I saw that Matheus [Nunes] broke through and it was a good finish. I’m happy for the goal and happy for the three points.”
The Pharaoh added: “We fought until the end, showed a very good mentality from the beginning. He [Pep] wanted us to put our hearts out there and fight for every ball.
“We just try to get our legs and mind fresh again and then we go again.”
This season, Marmoush has featured 11 times in the Premier League, scored one goal, and provided one assist.
